Nagios 3.0 - Open Source Network Monitoring Sytem
In 15 minutes, your network monitoring system is ready. The Nagios developer team promised is to us. But you have to read the quick start manual here.
And then, what will you get after 15 minutes? Your Nagios will be ready for:
- Monitoring Windows machines
- Monitoring Linux/Unix machines
- Monitoring Netware servers
- Monitoring routers/switches
- Monitoring publicly available services (HTTP, FTP, SSH, etc.)
What a wonderful world.
To start adding new host/server/router/service you have to read how to add a host and how to add a service. A host could be Windows Server, Linux/Unix Server, Netware Server, Router/Switch. A service could be server resource checking (cpu, memory, process, hard disk usage) or network service, like HTTP, FTP, POP3, SMPT, etc.
After that, it is possible for you to define time period for the nagios to check and where nagios will send the notification. In open source community, your first friend is documentation. So read it. Don’t be lazy. It will make you smarter.
