LAMP Resources for Network Administrator

Introduction

If you read all the article i submit here regarding the software for network management and monitoring, you will notice that most of them will:

  • Use Linux/Unix as the Operating System
  • They need Web Server
  • They need programming language
  • And they need database

Someone(s) make a good concept about four things above. They call it LAMP. Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python. As network administrator you don’t need to know deeply about this LAMP. But at least you know how to install and integrate them. So you can install most software for network monitoring system smoothly.

hobbitmon – Monitoring Oracle Database

If you are using hobbitmon and you want to monitor Oracle Database status (tablespace, log, user, processes, memory, etc), there are some scripts/extensions in deadcat. Three of them are:

  • Roracle
  • It is initially from James Huff (c) 2001 bb-moracle.sh, but basterdized by keith sebesta. Also rewrite from bb-moracle. Roracle is capable to monitor database status, processes, user, table space, extent, session, shadow, pin hit, block buffer, memory, rollback and some others. Personalized status and alert also possible.

  • Oracle Log Monitors
  • As you see it from the name, this script will help us to monitor oracle log. Good scripts, another road to be a lazy administrator :)

  • bb-oraperf
  • For Oracle Hit Performance Monitor you can use this scipts. And it is also possible to integrate it with larrd-grapher (another script to make a graph in hobbitmon).

That’s all what i can share with you. Nice scripts from Open Source Community. Don’t forget to thank the authors.
